MeMyI: Updates on What I'm Doing Now

Annyeong~

Wow..it's so dusty here in my blog..

So..hi guys! Actually it's been a while since my final exam (It's a FREAKING busy week!! So glad it's over) and now I'm back in Johor for around 1-2 months. Yay!!

However, since next semester I will be going to Australia (for educational purpose, mind you), I have been working as a clinic's assistant for Inche Abah, which is the reason why I don't update my blog anymore. But no worries, I will be updating lots of things soon (I'm really into online shopping nowadays. Especially buying make-up so prepare yourself for a GAZILLION MakeupWorld entries)

For you guys who thinks 'Meh..I hate makeups...', don't worry. I'll update other entries also..

Till then guys~~

P/S: I'm updating this while working (curi tulang la nih). Is it just me or updating via mobile really SUCKS? It looks great in my S3 Mini but then it's TERRIBLE in my laptop. Not to mention it's super hard typing since my phone is small and my finger is...not small *sad*

MakeupWorld: The Face Shop Clean Face skin care review

Annyeong.. Hi, peeps!

Ahh....I’m so tired~

It’s been a VERY hectic month. VERY! I have been sleeping for, like 2 hours per day on average, for this WHOLE month. And my eyes right now is really panda-like (which makes me really sad..and grumpy)

I know that I’m always updating MusicUtopia lately. That’s because updating MU (not Manchester United, mind you) takes very little time, and I can write through one in less than 30 minutes. However, not everybody is into K-POP, and my favourites will not always be the same as yours. Therefore, today I will be talking about my current favourite skincare line.

MusicUtopia: Nine Muses - Gun

Annyeong..

*cleans off dust on the blog*

Before I forget, Happy Aidiladha everyone!

I’m sorry guys for being missing for a while. I’ve been SUPER BUSY with all my classes and whatnot, so I don’t have time to search for interesting facts for you guys. I’m having a mid-semester break right now (in conjunction with Aidiladha holiday), so here I am, updating my blog back.

This week MusicUtopia is the hitting a boy like a boss edition with Nine Muses ‘Gun’.

Overview
Nine Muses is back! IMO, Nine Muses is a very underrated girl group, and that’s make me sad since I liked them so much. They have the best songs, very catchy and easily followed even for a non-Korean speaker like me. However, as they are a nine-member group, people has classified them as the ‘second Girl Generation’, making them ‘second-class’ and ‘a group trying to copy Girl Generation’. And Nine Muses has an anti group even before they debuted (mostly made up of SONEs, Girl Generation fanclub). For me, it is not fair to hate a group just because of the same number of members. Nine Muses brings a different music compared to Girl Generation, so it is not fair to say that 9M is trying to copy GG.

I liked most of 9M songs, especially Ticket (and No Playboy, eventhough that song received so much negative comments). I think they have the catchiest songs, and 9M is one of the groups that I don’t really mind being sexy since most of them are a bit older, so they fit to be sexy, not some underage girl with super short skirts prancing around. I usually hates idols (usually underage) to be sexy, I think being cute is better while they are still young. The only groups that I don’t mind being sexy are 9M and Brown Eyed Girl, since they are older, and being sexy for them means more than just wearing a super short miniskirt. I watched BEG promotions on Kill Bill, and I think they looked really great and sexy, eventhough they are wearing a long pants and a long sleeve blouse.

Songs&Videos
One word for this song, AWESOME!! I liked it the first time I heard it, and I still loved Gun. (Yay for my new ringtone!) This song is catchy, and I really liked the trumpet sounds. It provided the retro feel  to this song. The chorus makes a great repetitive, and hearing them will make you want to sing along, eventhough you don’t know what the heck they’re saying. (manjijak, manjijak~~)

The song is about a girl, who sensed a boy liked her, and she was telling him to be a gentleman and just tell her. So here’s a chance, grab it or just forget it. I really liked the meaning of this song. Sometimes it is embarrassing for a girl to confess a love. And sometimes the girl somehow sensed that a guy is actually liked her, so she pretends to know nothing, hoping that the guy finally gather up some courage to tell her so.
I was a bit unimpressed by the video, though. All 9 members of 9M are trying to hit on the same guy! I get it that the guy is super handsome, he is even more handsome than most of the idols (is it just me, or just to match 9M age, that guy is not an idol, since idols age are lower than 9M), but why did you guys hitting the same guy?

And the plot is just..*smirks* 9M, for some reason, are the owner/worker of a petrol station. All of them works there, from the attendant to the mechanic, car washer, drink models (seriously though, why do you guys sit at a petrol station while drinking something so prettily?), bicycle model to the owner of the petrol station, who sits there hugging a cat. And for some reason, that hunk is constantly walks around the petrol station (tawaf?) and smiled to the girls. I don’t think any of the girls scored the guy, and at the end, they play around with a trolley, with fireworks and drinks (lost their mind? Probably rejected by that hunk give a blow to their head..). Whatever happened, I don’t know..

Talking about the video, did you guys notice the signboards in the video?

Ahem, if you can’t read them, let me point it out for you.

For use as a motor fuel only. Contains lead.Washing greasing, steam cleanerMechanic on duty, wheel balncing, tune-up, branke work, pick up and delivery

What does that means? I don’t really know..

Conclusion
Yay for this song. Nine Muses have yet to disappoint me. Lately I have been hearing lots of ballads from Korea, and I’m not a fan of ballads (MYNAME’s Day by Day is good, though). So I’m really happy that now I have a new catchy song for my playlist. I just hope that 9M received more attention, they deserved it.

MusicUtopia: Piggy Dolls - Ordinary Girl

Annyeong...

Whew.. It’s been a while. I finally started my semester after TWO MONTH holiday! Let me tell you, the hardest part of starting studying back is SLEEP AND WAKE UP EARLY!!! 2AM is the earliest time I went to bed in these two months and I woke up at 11AM, and now I have to rush about on 7AM to avoid traffic. FFUUUU!! (Seriously though, I rarely cussed/swearing, but now I’m back behind wheels in Shah Alam/Klang, all these words come out through my mouth like tap water)

I’m still working out on reviews on Korean products that I bought. My camera broke down this holiday, and I have to use my phone to take pictures, and for some reason, the pictures are blurry (and it makes me boiling, and wants to swear a LOT more). So, I save them up for later. Let’s talk about the latest song I heard and liked.

The song title is ‘Ordinary Girl’ by Piggy Dolls. Yep, that’s the group name, no jokes.

Overview
Piggy Dolls have been around in K-pop Industries for quite some time, but for some reason, they are not very well known, probably because of the group concept. FYI, Piggy Dolls is a group consisting of 3 beautiful women that are..overweight. Their concept is something like talents are not depending on looks. I’m not saying that they are ugly, but compared to K-pop idols that are usually super slim and super beautiful, Piggy Dolls are less depending on their look. However, their voice is super something, and that is something that is usually lacking from idols.

The original Piggy Dolls when they debuted

They lost some weight on their album promotion.. cuter and still awesome!

However, I was pretty sad when I watch this music video. And that is caused by PIGGY DOLLS HAVE BEEN REPLACED!!! I was wondering why the girls looked so very different since their last MV that I watched, The Girl I Know. It turns out that their company decided to make a complete change of the group, ditched the current members, and get new girls with a slim figure and beautiful face to replace them. And the sadder thing is that Piggy Dolls is usually recognized by their voice, and now when I heard this song, my first feeling is this song is pretty much the same with other idols. There is no difference at all. And the part which I hate the most is the company decided to keep the name ‘Piggy Dolls’, said to continue the legacy of the old Piggy Dolls. WHAT THE? The old Piggy Dolls is great. If your new girls are greater, let them create they own legacy, not piggy back on others success.
The new Piggy Dolls.. There's no difference between them and other idols anymore *sigh*

Video & Song
I guess the video is trying to be creative, instead of showing a story line, or some girls dancing somewhere (in an odd box, for instance), this video showing one of Piggy Dolls members sitting in a cafe, drinking coffee with a guy who supposedly her boyfriend. On the table there are some magazines, and instead of focusing on the people drinking coffee, the focus of the camera is on the magazines, which showing Piggy Dolls members on the covers. I think the concept is cute and quite fresh, since I don’t usually see K-pop MVs that are creative. And there are even storyline that are shown with just several magazines covers. Good job.

However, I have a clash of opinions on this song. I don’t usually like ballads, slow songs. Of course there are some ballad songs in my personal playlist, but they are very, very few, something like 1 in every 100 songs (so consider yourself lucky if your ballads make it through my playlist!). I really like the opening of this song, I think it is a very good slow part, but for some reason I think the chorus is too catchy to be compared to the opening. And I hate it.
It’s like combining 2 songs together, and combining a ballad and a dance song is not a very good idea. If it ballad, make it ballad all the way and if you want a super catchy song, make a super catchy song all the way. Seriously though, who started this trend of combining mismatched songs together? I think I heard it first from SNSD’s ‘I got a boy’ and after that almost ALL SME songs are something like combination of several songs. And for some reason I HATE IT, because a perfectly good song can be ruined, just like this song.

Conclusion

My conclusion is, this song is great, although it mismatch a bit. I even cut the opening part for my message tones (since I hate super catchy bombastic song for messages. It’s only messages, why would you have message tones that can be heard from 500 meters away?).

And no, I’m not falling out of love, if you’re wondering. I know some people will think I’m heartbroken since all of the sudden I’m listening to ballad, titled Ordinary Girl, which showing a girl thinks she’s too ordinary for the guy and broke up with him since she thinks he better off without her.

GameWorld: Introduction

Annyeong..

It’s been a while since my last update. Sorry guys *goes away hiding*

I will be starting my new semester on the 9th of September which will be around a week or so. I have to admit that I starting to feel the jiggly-wiggly of the new semester, but that’s not the reason why I’m getting lazier to update. The thing is..my cousin gave me a new video game last week, and I spent all my free time playing it. AND THAT WAS AWESOME!!!

I really love video games. And whenever I get my hands on one, I can barely hold myself from finishing it and watching the ending. FYI, I really love games with a STORYLINE, not the games that let you bash things without knowing why. And since I get VERY worked up after playing a game, I will not stop until I see the ending. I am THAT hardcore. Once, I played Final Fantasy 6 Advance (awesome game in GBA) in 30 hours non-stop, I don’t even take a bathroom break, no food, no sleep..  After I beat the game, I went to collect all magicites and unlocking and beat all dungeons including the secret dungeons, and after I perfectly beat the game, I realised that I was VERY, VERY TIRED and HUNGRY. And I soon realised I played FF6A for 30 hours straight.. *rolls eyes*

Since I don’t have patience to wait for the ending, when I play a video game, I play it almost every time every day. So, with the new semester is just around the corner, I have to finish all the games I played right now. Then I can concentrate fully in my new class (and hopefully scored better in tests). To tell you the truth, my university break is far too long (I remember coming back home in 14th of July) and my brain needs some oiling now to fully functional *sigh*

The latest game I played (which my cousin gave me) is Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core. I beat the game in just 3 days but I haven’t completed it yet. There are TONNES of missions that I skipped due to my eagerness to see the ending. I am currently in my second run of the game to complete it (and I can play patiently now since I already watched the ending. No more over-eagerness^^)

If you ask me about my personal favourite video games, I list out my top 5 picks and their respective platforms.

  1. Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9 (Sony Playstation/PSX) *
  2. Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (Sony Playstation/PSX) **
  3. Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core (Sony Playstation Portable/PSP)
  4. Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga (Gameboy Advance)
  5. Counter Strike: Condition Zero (PC) ***

* - Final Fantasy 7 and 8 are released in PC version
** - Also playable in Sony Playstation Portable/PSP known as Harvest Moon: Boy and Girl. Note that in PSX version, there is only boy version released in English, while the girl version is released in Japanese. In PSP, both versions are in English.
*** - I don’t know if this game fit the category, but I really liked playing Counter Strike during free time. They released a lot of tension, if you know what I mean.

Sidenote: I’m ready to review The Face Shop products that I bought several weeks ago. Stay tuned if you girls interested (and boys, if you also interested..)

MeMyI: Aigoo My Grandma

Annyeong..

Today I’m going to share a funny story happened this morning. I’m not going to sleep late today since I have something up tomorrow, MAYBE. It’s not confirmed yet but I really hope it’s going to happen *big teary eyes*

Yesterday, my grandmother came to my house. She was actually visiting since last week, but she was staying over at my aunt’s house (I have 2 aunts living nearby, Puan Mama’s oldest sister and her youngest sister who passed away recently which I mentioned here). My grandma planned to go back to her house in Segamat and since Tuan Abah wants to go to Malacca today, he is willing to send her home. So, to make it easier for us, my grandma slept in my house yesterday.

My grandma is a bit sensitive over losing her youngest child and she cried a lot thinking of my late aunt. She will not cry in front of anyone, but the minute she’s alone, she will cry. So, Puan Mama asked me to sleep with my grandma, hoping that she will not cry the night out and I said fine. After I uploaded yesterday’s post, I took my pillow downstairs to the guest room and I saw that my grandma has already sleeping.

However, the minute I passed through her to go to the other bed in the room, she woke up and address me sleepily. I replied her softly and thought ‘Wow, my grandma is a REALLY light sleeper. I better not make any noise tonight’. So I silenced both my phones and try to sleep. My grandma has already slept again.

Around 1 am, I was woken up by my grandma. It’s not because she’s snoring (I am immune to peoples snoring, I can sleep through the loudest snore, provided that I sleep first), but she was saying about she’s getting old and she have to use the toilet frequently. So I did wake up and sit on my bed, asking her if she wants to go to the toilet. And I realized that my grandma is actually SLEEP TALKING. And I was too sleepy to realize that she is not talking to me at the moment. I was just nodding and went back to sleep.

Somewhere in 3 am, I was woken up AGAIN by my grandma yelling. I thought something was wrong and I was quickly up and standing (ever try lay down and getting to your feet without sitting?), ready to get anything. It turns out that there were some cats fighting behind our house, and my grandma, thinking that she was in her own house, yells for her dog to stop bothering the cats. My grandma owns several cats and a dog called Tuyut (this dog watch over my grandma fruit orchard and her hen coop) and whenever the dog gets bored, he will come over near the house and disturbs the cats. So I guess my grandma thinks that Tuyut is disturbing the cats and yells for him to stop, she didn’t realized that she was actually in my house, where we don’t own a dog, or a cat. And I was standing there, like an idiot. And my grandma was still sleeping..peacefully.....

And today I woke up, feeling super grumpy because I’m still tired. By the time I wake up, my grandma has already left with Tuan Abah, so I think I must be pretty wore out since even though I am not necessarily a light sleeper, I am really sensitive to someone calling my name or the sound of a closed door. And I’m still grumpy throughout the day and now the internet wouldn’t let me off TT.TT

Grumpy cat does not approve

Sidenote: I was planning to go to Legoland Malaysia tomorrow with my ex-maid (she has been working at my house for like 17 years, and she is still here to be with her husband even though she’s no longer working in my house) and my little cousins. I do not own Legoland card since I rarely home but my ex-maid and my little cousins do so if we did go tomorrow, then we have to pay for only 1 person. HOWEVER, my uncle told Puan Mama that he can’t find my cousin’s Legoland card, and if he can’t find it tomorrow morning, so we can’t go. I have never been to Legoland, and I want to go there before the ticket price skyrocketed TT.TT

MakeupWorld: The Face Shop haul!

Annyeong...

Today I got so bored, so VERY bored so I went shopping in KSL Mall, somewhere in the middle of Johor Bahru. What’s the most efficient way to release boredom when you have some $$$? Shopping, of course. Actually I read about The Face Shop is having a sale right now yesterday in Facebook. Etude House is also having a Buy 1 Free 1 sale right now. And I was like ‘OMG!!!!! I-must-simply-buy-everything!!’.

YAY!! A sale!!!! OMG!!!!! I-must-simply-buy-everything!!

And off to KSL Mall I went. The reason is KSL Mall houses both shops and I am too lazy to go to City Square because it is usually overcrowded. KSL Mall is generally cheaper, too. City Square is the southern version of Sunway Pyramid or Queensbay, where there are rows and rows of super expensive shops that sells super expensive things and going there with my little purse with little money will just make me cry. However, I liked Sunway Pyramid a lot even though I just go there to window shopping (and eat some food from the food tasting corner). City Square is somehow becoming a port for ‘swaggers’, which usually consists of a bunch of teens wearing short skirts, super tight shirt, oversized caps and Supra shoes, and they give you stink eyes if you glanced at them. Pshhh...

Alright, enough with the side stories. This is my loots from the shopping haul.

Let’s start with the skin care. I have a super oily skin, and living in Malaysia with the super sunny days does not helping a bit. So, reading some positive reviews on these babies, I decided to test them myself. These are products from The Face Shop skincare line called Clean Face. I got 3 of them, the Clean Face Acne Solution Foam Cleansing, the Clean Face Mild Lotion and the Clean Face Oil-Free Control Essence. There are a lot more products from this skincare line but I’m not interested in them, for:
a) I’m running out of money
b) My current Simple toner is really, really good
c) I don’t really have spots to buy the spot corrector (however, I do read some positive reviews       on their spot corrector and cream)

From left: Acne Solution Foam Cleansing, Mild Lotion, Oil-Free Control Essence

Give me some time and I will come up with some reviews on these products.

For makeup, I went ahead and buy these 2 cute products, also from The Face Shop. These are new products of The Face Shop under the FACE it line called FACE it Oil Cut Pore Balm and FACE it Oil Cut Pore Powder Pact. I was actually searching for a face primer (I told you I have a super oily skin, the only makeup that I trusted to stay on my face is Revlon’s Colourstay) and the sale assistant told me that the Pore Balm is good to cover up large pores and making makeup stick to your face better, so in other words, can be a replacement for a primer. I know The Face Shop has an awesome primer, named something like Velvet, but I read comments saying that it has shimmering effect, so for me, it’s a big NO. So I bought it, and since The Face Shop has a Buy 1 Free 1 sale on makeup, I get the Powder Pact for FREE!!!

From left: Pore Balm and Powder Pact
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The free sample and the bag tag!! Yay for freebies!!

I also get these two cute things as freebies from The Face Shop. The small pink box (why is Korean makeup products so cute?) is the sample for The Face Shop new products, Smim. It contains a Smim toner and Smim emulsify. The green one is a bag tag (also SUPER KAWAII) promoting The Face Shop new skincare line from Chia Seed.

The Smim sample (gosh, so cute ^W^)

Let’s talk about price here. For me, Korean makeup is just a LITTLE bit pricier compared to drugstore brand that I used to buy (Maybelline, L’Oreal, Revlon etc etc). However, it does depend on whatever product you’re buying. For example, in my observation, eye shadows and blushers are generally cheaper here compared to drugstore products. Powders, foundations and primers are about the same or a little bit more expensive compared to drugstores. However, some Korean products are really, really good and can be compared to high end products such as M.A.C or LancĂ´me. So, if you’re interested in Korean skincare or makeup, I do recommend searching online for reviews and decided on the products you want to buy.
In my Korean products haul today, I listed the products and the price I bought them. Since I bought them in sale, I’ll be also include the original price (Prices are in Malaysian Ringgit/MYR):

MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Sidenote: Notice that I just buying products from The Face Shop only and earlier I mentioned about Etude House. The thing is I was searching for a face primer called Pore Ever by Etude House. And the annoying sale assistant told me that there is no such product at Etude House, and if I want a primer, I should buy the latest pink primer (I don’t know the name of it) that would net RM80, and because it is a new arrival product, there is NO Buy 1 Free 1 sale. What the f***? Another gentler sale assistant told me that Pore Ever is discontinued and replaced by the pink primer, which is a combination of primer and BB Cream. That’s weird since I read a review on Pore Ever yesterday, and the blogger posted that somewhere in July 2013. I really need to recheck whether it is really discontinued or I have been trolled by some stupid sale assistants.
